Mae H. Auker, 90, of State College, formerly of Port Royal, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at Brookline Village, The Fairways. She was born on April 26,1915, in Youngwood, Pa., to the late Harry G. and Lottie D. Horning. On June 27,1940, she married Samuel Irvin Auker, who preceded her in death on June 12,1981. She worked part-time for 30 years as a registration clerk in the continuing education department at Penn State University. She was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, and was active in the auxiliary of the Presbyterian Homes. She was also a member of the University Women Club, Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years, charter member of Chapter AD of PEO Sisterhood, and Centre Hills Country Club for many years. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and at the Centre Community Hospital. She loved playing golf, Bridge, and bowled in several leagues. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Auker Pullo and her husband, Frank, of East Stroudsburg; a son, Samuel Thomas Auker and his wife, Ellen, of State College; a grandson, Justin Aaron Auker, of State College; a brother, Glenn Grofton Horning, of Port Royal; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in by a sister, Helen Armstrong, of Port Royal. Friends will be received from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at the State College Presbyterian Church, 132 W. Beaver Ave., State College, PA 16801. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., at the church, with The Rev. Joel T. Blunk officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at the Mifflintown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the State College Presbyterian Church, 132 W. College Ave., State College, PA 16801 or to the Presbyterian Homes, c/o Jim Steiner, 120 Holliday Hills Drive, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
