Martha Ann (Horney) Barnes was born July 19, 1926 in Noblesville, Indiana in the Little Chicago Neighborhood, near Hinkle Creek Church. She was the daughter of William Kenneth and Pauline Thompson Horney. She was married to Orval H. Barnes. Martha was a 5th generation member of the Horney family at Hinkle Creek Friends Church. She was active in local schools and served as President of the Noblesville PTA Council. She was past county president of the Hamilton County Homemakers. Martha served on the 4H Council, and was a charter member of the Indiana Appaloosa Association, and the Hamilton County Horseman's Association. Martha was employed by Grain Dealers Mutual, Wabash Fire & Casualty, and General Accident in Indianapolis. Martha moved to Indianapolis in 1965 and then moved to Sarasota, FL, in 1972. In 2005, Martha moved back to Noblesville. Survivors include three children, Sharon (Denny) Griffith, Butch (Mary Pat) Barnes, and Pat (Jan) Barnes; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orval Barnes, daughters, Shirley Shuck and Jerilyn Wagner, and grandson, Ronald Wagner, Jr. Memorial services will be held at Hinkle Creek Friends Church on a future date. Arrangements entrusted to Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel.
