NEWTON, Ill. — Dorothy Benham, age 93, of Newton, Ill., passed away at 12:50 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Newton Rest Haven, Newton, Ill.

Dorothy was born April 15, 1918, in Mason County, Ill., the daughter of Robert R. and Lucy (Adams) Hornback. On Feb. 23, 1940, Dorothy married Belden G. Benham. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1989.

Dorothy spent her life as a homemaker and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Newton Christian Church and Hunt City Home Extension. Dorothy was an excellent cook and quilter. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and watching the Chicago Cubs.

She will be loved and remembered by her son, Gerald Benham of Elkhart, Ind.; daughter, Dorothy "Geri" Robinson of Geneva, Ohio; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Ina Fitts; grandson, Jay Fitts; four brothers; and five sisters.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25th, at CRAIN FUNERAL HOME, Newton. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Jasper County, Ill.

Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until time of Service, Tuesday, at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Newton Christian Church.
