9/24/2001 - Helen M. DeLong, 102, of 1048 North Main St., died at 3:15 a.m. Monday (Sept. 24, 2001) in the Lutheran Retirement Home. An area resident most of her life, she was born Feb. 26, 1899, in Kittanning, Pa., the daughter of Thomas Patrick and Bridget Elizabeth Sweeney Horan. She had attended Falconer Central School and Jamestown Business College. Before her retirement, she was employed as a payroll clerk for the former Sans Corporation for more than 20 years. She was a communicant of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of its Altar & Rosary Society, a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the L.C.B.A. and was a past chief for the Diana Lodge of the Independant Order of the Vikings Lodge 65. She was an avid bingo player and worked for many years on the bingo team for Ss. Peter & Paul School. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Kennebeck of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Jerry DeLong of Roanoke, Va.; 17 grandchildren, including Beth Bundy of Jamestown, with whom she made her home for six years; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons: Jack and James Delong, a sister, Margaret Horan; and two brothers: Thomas and Al Horan. Inurnment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
