Margie A. Bowman, 81, widow of Clifford N. Bowman, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Shuman of 109 S. High St. Funkstown. She had made her home in Funkstown the past two years.

Born in Edgemont, she was the daughter of Abram and Samantha Wolf Hoover. She lived her early life in Chambersburg, Pa. Prior to moving to Funkstown in 1968, she had lived on Beck's Road, Hagerstown, since her marriage in 1905.

She was a member of Beard's Lutheran Church and the Leitersburg Homemakers.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Massey of Hagerstown, Mrs. Catherine Maioranna of Boonsboro and Mrs. Shuman of Funkstown; two sons, Walter R. Bowman of Hagerstown and Renned R. Bowman of Baltimore; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-ggrandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Robertson of Oregon, Ill. and Mrs. Bertha Brown of Lantz; two half-sisters, Mrs. Anna Barncord of Waynesboro, Pa. and Mrs. Margaret Rosenberger of Dillsburg, Pa.; and three half-brothers, Emmert Hoover of Waynesboro, Pa. and Charles Hoover and Willis Hoover, both of York, Pa.


Services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro with Pastor Donald Warrenfeltz officiating. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
