BELLEVILLE - Rita C. Bigelow, 95, a resident of Valley View Haven and formerly of Yeagertown, died at 10:22 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Valley View Haven. Born Nov. 1, 1917, in Yeagertown, she was the daughter of the late Harvey F. and Edna (McCalips) Hoover. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick A. Bigelow on Nov. 28, 2005, and a sister, Margaret Heller. Rita is survived by: her children, Janet L. Short, of Hershey, and Frederick H. Bigelow and wife, Janice, of Lewisburg; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewistown. Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gary Roth officiating. Private interment will be in Yeagertown Lutheran Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
