Philip Hood, 65, of Headland, Alabama, formerly of Sarasota, Florida died 20 June 1999 [in Gainesville, Florida].
He was born 22 September 1933 in Sarasota and moved to Dothan, Alabama in 1974. He was with the Sarasota Fire Department for several years before his medical retirement. He retired in 1997 as an outside salesman for Hutting Sash and Door Company in Dothan. He was an Army veteran. He was a first grand knight for Tom Dooley Council 6267 Knights of Columbus in Dothan and a fourth degree and former grand knight in Sarasota.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Maude (Kunz) Hood; two daughters: Susan "Terri" Creel of Birmingham, Alabama and Patricia Armstrong of Birmingham, Alabama; two brothers: William Joseph Hood of San Diego, California and Robert Charles Hood of Sarasota, Florida; and a sister, Mary Alice (Hood) Amow of Broadenville, Pennsylvania.
Services will be in Dothan. Byrd Funeral Home is in charge. Burial with full military honors will be at 10 a.m. July 9 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Florida, 4200 North West 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
