Mary Ann Holmes, 77, died peacefully at her home in Rosenberg October 21, 2008. Mary Ann was born October 7, 1931 in Fulshear to Edward Nesbitt and Mary Miller Dozier.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Carl L. (Luvine) Holmes. They were both members of the Richmond High Class of "48" which was the last class to graduate Richmond High School prior to Richmond and Rosenberg joining to form Lamar Consolidated High School. Mary Ann and Luvine raised their family and lived their entire life in Ft. Bend County. They owned and operated Holmes Smokehouse for over 30 years. Many will remember Friday night catfish dinners, deer processing, holiday hams and turkeys and are still enjoying Holmes Smokehouse Pecan Smoked Sausage. Mary Ann could always be seen cooking, cleaning off a table, or simply visiting with customers and friends. Mary Ann will be missed by all.
Survivors include 3 sons, Steve Holmes and wife, Debbie, Gary Holmes and wife, Pam, Carl Holmes and wife, Deborah; 1 daughter, Ginny Holmes; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be designated to the American Stroke Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas TX 75231, 1-888-478-7653. Funeral services will be held at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg, Friday, October 24, 2008, at 3 PM. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
