Mrs. Agnes Holmes Young, 89, of Dunn died Wednesday evening at Betsy Johnston Hospital. She was born in Johnston County on December 19, 1924 to the late Archie Talmage and Viola McLamb Holmes. She was preceded in death by husbands, John Oscar Barefoot and Carl Young; sons, Edward and Charles Robert Barefoot; daughter, Ila Ruth Barbour; sisters, Roena Barefoot, Melverna McLamb and Elosie Flora; and brothers, Archie Felton, J.T., Charles, and Samuel Holmes.
Mrs. Young was a member of Fair Haven Church of God.
A funeral service will be held 3p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Shackleford, Rev. Timothy Dean and Rev. David Brooks. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens.
She is survived by daughters, Hilda Barefoot of Dunn and Shirley Barefoot and husband Shelton of Linden; sister, Sara Holmes Davis of Dunn; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
