Birth: Jun. 30, 1883
Georgia, USA
Death: May 5, 1957

Hattie Pauline Hollis was born on 30 Jun 1883 to Benjamin Thomas Hollis (1840-1905) and Lucinda Elkins Hollis (born ~1846). Hattie's father married at least three times and she had several brothers and sisters.

In 1900, Hattie (16) is living with her father Benjamin, her stepmother Martha, her sister Lottie (19) and her brother Samuel (17) in Godfrey, Bibb County, Georgia. Her father works for the railroad.

20 Sep 1905 - Hattie marries John Thomas Harper in Bibb County, GA. He is 28, she is 22. John and Hattie have six children: Clover (born 1906), Adelle (~1910-1910), Katie (born ~1911); Walker (1913-1918); Walter (1916-1992; he marries Josie Eula McMillan), Eugene Franklin "Frank" (1918-2005; he marries Margaret Edna Barker), and Agnes Ida "Ida" Harper (born ~1921; she marries Elmer Hall).

From 1905-1918, John & Hattie live in Macon, GA and the city directories list John's occupation as blacksmith. In 1918, John & Hattie are living in Chattanooga, TN according to his WWI draft registration papers. John is a blacksmith, missing his left eye, of medium height and build with blue eyes. From 1920 until at least 1935, they are living in Macon again (city directories & censuses). By 1940 they are living in the warmth of West Palm Beach, FL.

John predeceases Hattie when he passes away in 1947. Hattie marries Leslie Dunham Green about 1949. They are married about 8 years. Hattie passes away in May 1957 and Leslie passes away in June 1957. Hattie is buried with John.

Note: At one time, this memorial was connected to Mrs. M. (Martha) L. Hollis (memorial #37304502), widow of Benjamin Hollis as Hattie's mother. Further research revealed Martha was probably Hattie's stepmother.
