MRS. MELISSA ANDERSON DIES

Jacksonville, July 4, -- Mrs. Melissa J. Anderson, 79, prominent lifetime resident of Morgan county, died at 10 o'clock this morning at the home of her son, Alfred Anderson, one and one-hald miles west of Chapin, following a long illness.
Mrs. Anderson was born Sept. 19, 1847, a daughter of Charlees and Margaret Holliday. She was married to James Anderson when a young girl. He preceded her in death twenty-five years ago. She was a member of Chapin M. E. church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ella Drake, Chapin; one son, Alfred; and the following brothers and sisters; Willis Holliday, of this city; J. G. Holliday, Chapin; Mrs. Annie Rand, of Missouri; Mrs. Margaret Moody, Chapin, and Mrs. E. D. Funk, Chapin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of her son, Rev. J. F. Langton officiating. Interment at Chapin.
