Veronica M. Hollenback, 96, of Towanda, Pa., passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.

Veronica was born in Powell, Pa., on March 20, 1919, a daughter of Michael and Eva Chilson Mahoney. She attended the Gregg Hill Elementary School and was a graduate of Towanda High School class of 1937. In 1937, Veronica married Harold E. Hollenback and together they operated their farm in East Towanda where they raised their family. Veronica was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Towanda and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Towanda American Legion Post Auxiliary and the former Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge Auxiliary in Towanda.

Veronica enjoyed spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, mowing lawn, gardening and was an avid walker.

Surviving are her children Charmaine Stempel and husband David of North Towanda, William Hollenback and wife Linda of Towanda, Theresa Chila of Avalon, N.J., Thomas Hollenback of Towanda; daughter-in-law Sheryn Hollenback of Towanda; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1969; daughter Sharon TamBurina; sons James, Gary and Stephen Hollenback; granddaughter Jennifer Hollenback; brothers Paul, Edward, John and Michael Mahoney; and sisters Margaret Hardin and Mary Benjamin.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. A mass of Christian burial will be follow at 11:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Third Street, Towanda, Pa., with Rev. Edward Michelini, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, Pa. The family suggests that contributions in Veronica's memory may be directed to St. Agnes School, 102 Third St., Towanda, Pa., or to Ss.
