Barbara Ann Holland, age 72, of Forest City, N.C., died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.

Born June 19, 1941 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late David Poteat and Eunice Atkins Poteat.

Barbara was a homemaker and a member of Morningstar Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, camping and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Phillip "Ken" Holland; daughter, Ann Cole and brother, Roger Poteat.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Smith-Silvers and husband, Jeff of Rutherfordton and Judy Holland and husband Tommy of Marion, N.C.; two sons, Greg Holland of Forest City and Jeff Holland and wife, Tonya of Rutherfordton; brother, Steve Poteat and wife, Burma of Gaffney, S.C. and sister-in-law, Marion Hutchins of Forest City. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Alexander Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
