A funeral service for Charlie Simms Holland, 61, of 558 Laurel Ave. was held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Franklin Congregational Christian Church by the Rev. Charles Smith and Dr. R.E. Brittle.
A native of Nansemond County, he was the husband of Mrs. Thelma H. Holland.
He was a retired mechanic and a member of United Congregational Christian Church.
Pallbearers were: Jerry Beaton, Wayne Vick, Billy Hayes, Robert Howell, Floyd Briggs, David Wright and Edgar Wright.
Besides his widow, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Faison and Mrs. Nancy Edwards of Franklin; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Hayes, Mrs. Dorothy Beaton, both of Franklin, and Mrs. Mary Teat of Florida; two brothers, William H. Holland of Windsor and Johnny L. Holland of Augusta, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery with W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in charge.
