Arthur Ray 'Shag' Hogbin

CHEROKEE - Arthur Ray "Shag" Hogbin, 94, of Cherokee, died at 5:05 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2003, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 12, 1908, at West Mineral, to Seymore and Daisy Buzzard Hogbin.
He attended West Mineral schools.
He married Tillie C. Prenk on April 10, 1937. She survives of the home.
Mr. Hogbin worked as a coal miner in southeast Kansas for several years. He also was a pipefitter.
He was a 60-year member of United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. He had been a member of the Black Diamond Lodge No. 274 A.F. & A.M. of Weir since 1930.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Gloria Curran of Pittsburg; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister Edna Miller; two sisters, Edith McLaughlin and Alice Fay; and one brother, Herman Hogbin.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home at Weir with Fr. Jarrod Lies officiating.
Burial will follow in Hosey Hill Cemetery at Weir.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Masonic rites will be given at 7 p.m.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Weir.
