Mrs. Elizabeth M. Groft, 96, 223 S. Fifth St., McSherrystown, widow of Benjamin W. Groft, died Sunday morning at 6:55 in the Hanover Hospital where she had been admitted as a patient Saturday. She had, however been in failing health and had previously been a patient at the hospital on several occasions.
A native of Adams County, she was a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Small) Hockensmith. Her husband died in 1954. She was a member of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, McSherrystown.
Surviving are seven daughters and a son; Mrs. David Baker, 19 S. 4th St., McSherrystown; Miss Pauline Groft, at home; Mrs. Lester Smith, 505 Delone Ave., McSherrystown; Earl A. Groft, 620 Carlisle St., Hanover; Mrs. Ralph Storm, 217 S. Fifth St., McSherrystown; Mrs. Henry Smith, Hanover; Mrs. Lawrence olin, 227 S. Fifth St., McSherrystown; Sister Agatha Marie, Chicago, Ill. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 14 great granchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning with meeting at 8:30 o'clock at the Hicks Funeral Home, McSherrystown, to go to Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 9 at which the Rev. Fr. Hubert J. Kealy assistant pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
