ADVANCE — Ruth L. Jones, 86, of Advance died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at Advance Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 6, 1910, near Advance, daughter of Benjamin L. and Elsie Posten Hitt. She and William L "Bill" Jones were married May 25, 1928, in Jonesboro, Ill. He died Nov. 16, 1983.

Jones attended Rum Branch School near Advance and Will Mayfield College at Marble Hill. She had been active in operating the family farm, and was a member of Advance Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Jones of Jefferson, Ore., Lyle Jones of Festus, Gerald Jones of Arnold: a daughter, Sharon Gass of Arnold: 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, brother and sister.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Brad Moore and James Johns officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Advance.
