Chester L. Hitchcock, of Aurora, Nebraska departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on, November 16, 2009, at the Aurora Memorial Hospital, Aurora, Nebraska. Chester was 89 years of age having been born on September 27, 1920, on a farm five miles west of Hay Springs, Nebraska to Lynn and Audrey Hitchcock.
Chester attended rural school and graduated from Hay Springs (Nebraska) High School with The Class of 1939. He married Jean Newblom on May 2, 1945, at the Methodist Church in Hay Springs, Nebraska where they lived until 1953. They then moved to Gordon, Nebraska and later to North Platte, Nebraska. Chester worked and retired from the State Department of Roads as warehouse foreman. In 2007, they moved to Aurora, Nebraska where they lived with their daughter.
Chester was a World War II veteran and received the Purple Heart for wounds received in France. He was very proud to have served his country. Chester's hobby was the love to work with wood. He had a shop where he spent a lot of his time working on projects for his family.
Chester is survived by: wife, Jean Hitchcock of Aurora, Nebraska; daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Bill Clements; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Peggy Hitchcock; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dorman and Margie Hitchcock and a host of friends and relatives.
Chester was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: his parents Lynn and Audrey Hitchcock; sister, Verona and brothers, Lyle and Harold Hitchcock.
