OTTUMWA — Carol Ellyn Arnold, 77, of 2622 Kenwood St., passed away at 10:30 a.m. January 17, 2014, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines following a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease for the past 25 years. She was born January 8, 1937, in Ottumwa to George and Faye Lowenberg Hirst. She married Glen Eugene Arnold on March 26, 1965. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1955, she had worked for Drs. Emanuel, Ebbinger and Snyder's office. She worked 17 years at Norwest and Wells Fargo Banks, retiring in 1997. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, traveling to Colorado and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Gene; a daughter, Kris (Phil) Morgan of West Des Moines; a son, Greg Arnold of Denver, Colo.; two granddaughters, Natalie and Tessa Morgan; a sister, Virginia Hirst of Iowa City; her mother-in-law, Wilma Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Glen L. Arnold. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. David Klanderman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
