Vivian Hinton Drake died on October 27, 2012 in Littleton, Colorado. She was born in Albia, Iowa on January 29, 1918 to Gay Hall Hinton and Gail M. Hinton. Vivian is a graduate of Albia High School and Albia Junior College. She also attended Iowa Success Business College in Ottumwa and Penn College in Oskaloosa and was a credit clerk at Sears in Ottumwa.

In 1941, Vivian moved to Washington, DC and worked for the Federal Government. There she met and married Edward Kirkland Drake of Petersburg, Virginia on July 6, 1943. After World War II, they moved to Petersburg where she was employed at Ft. Lee from 1956-1970.

Vivian returned to Albia in 1980 and moved to Littleton, Colorado in 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward K. Drake. She is survived by two children, five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, one of Madison, Wisconsin and one of Albia, Iowa.

A graveside service will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park in Petersburg, Virginia. Memorial contributions can be sent to First Christian Church, 203 Washington Avenue East, Albia, Iowa 52531.
