Jack Hill, age 77, of Russellville, better known by his grandchildren as "Cracker", passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 22, 1929 in Hector to W. C. and Willie McAlister Hill. He was a graduate of Dover High School and attended Arkansas Tech University (formerly Arkansas Polytechnic College).
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He served on the Russellville City Council for 26 years as an Alderman and briefly as interim Mayor.
Mr. Hill was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Russellville, where he was a charter member of the Carden Sunday School Class. He was a charter member of the Russellville Junior Chamber of Commerce, formerly known as Jaycees. He was the owner of Jack Hill Auto Parts of Russellville and Atkins for 20 years before retiring in 1987.

In addition to his parents, his sisters, Vorea Hill Tackett and Arvazean Hill Hunter, and his brother, Leland Hill, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Shinn Hill; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Tara and Chuck O'Dell of Russellville; Jacque and Michael Ptak of Little Rock; and Marla Hill of Russellville; four grandchildren: Shawn Phipps, Drew Phipps and Ashley O'Dell, all of Russellville; and Shinn Ptak of Little Rock; as well as five nieces and a nephew.

Visitation was held in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church from 9 to 10 A.M. on Friday with a memorial service following at 10 A.M. in the Sanctuary officiated by Rev. Matthew Johnson and Rev. Victor Nixon.

Burial was by Shinn Funeral Service.

Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Lowe, James "Jug" Knight, Hack Horton, Robert Lynn Roberts, Art Jostmeyer and Kenneth Jones.
