Larry J. Hill, Jr. of Liberty died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the age of 32.
A Liberty native, Larry was born February 20, 1976 to Larry J. Sr. and Joann L. Martinez Hill. In 1995, he graduated from Union County High School. Prior to graduation, he participated in the CAVS training and became proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, winning the 1995 State Welding Championship. Larry was employed as a welder for Hill-Rom in Batesville for the last 10 years. On July 2, 2006, Larry married the former Teresa Abner.
Larry spent his free time with his family, working on his brother's farm, and hunting "anything that moved." He recently won the Turkey Gun of the Year from the National Wild Turkey Federation.
He is survived by his wife; his seventeen-month-old son: Devan Antonio Hill; his mother: Joann Chapman and her husband George of Connersville; his father: Larry J. Hill, Sr. of Liberty; a sister: Jackie Day of Liberty; three brothers: Jim Partridge of Liberty; Dale Partridge and his wife Julie of Washington D.C., Jeff Hill and his wife Shannon of Liberty; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Since Larry never met a stranger, he also leaves behind many friends.
His grandparents precede him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty with Rev. Fuzzy Lake of Christ Jesus Community Church in Connersville officiating. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 3 until 7 p.m. Sunday, where memorial contributions may be made to Devan Antonio Hill Education Fund.
