Statistical Association Adopts Feeling Resolution
The National Statistical Association met last night in the reception room of Columbian University and passed resolutions of regret at the death of Major Charles S. Hill, founder and Secretary of the Association. Judge William Lawrence called the meeting to order. He stated that the death of their friend had been a great surprise to him. He had long known Major Hill as an earnest worker and an enthusiastic statist. He had given many years of study to statistical work and had contributed much to the science in the United States. His judgment had been sound and reliable and many of his statistical productions were of importance. He was the founder of the association and under his management it had achieved much of its success. A committee was appointed to draft appropriate resolutions and this was done. ….
Dr. Joseph Nimmo Jr., LL.D. eulogized the personal character of Major Hill; he was honest, upright and able. ….

Funeral of Col. Hill
The funeral of Colonel Charles S. Hill, late Secretary of the National Statistical Association, occurred yesterday in the chapel at Oak Hill Cemetery. A large number of friends and acquaintances were in attendance, including a delegation from the Confederate Veterans' Association, of which Colonel Hill was a member. The services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Harold and the pallbearers were John Selden, Thomas Hyde, Mills Dean, William A. Gordon, Major E.H. Cummings and Richard Smith.
