Although in her 90th year, Mrs. Hicks was a bright and interesting woman, cheerful and appreciative of the tender and loving care she received during her declining years. When the recipient of some dainty from a friend, she remarked, "O", if I were to live my life over, I would be kinder to everybody." This meant much, as her hands were always busy doing for others. Her ear was quick to hear the mind and heart active to respond. Her door was always open to those in need of home and care. The aged, the poor and the orphans have shared her home and blessed is the memory among all who knew her.
