Kathleen "Zoebelle" Hickman Baskin, 93, of Waco, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009, in Waco. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, at Ater Cemetery near Gatesville, with Dr. John Crowder officiating.
Zoe was born in Bosque County, Texas, to the late John L. and Margaret Lee (Hickman) Hickman. She attended Lorena High School. On June 2, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Rae Baskin at her parent's home in Hewitt. Zoe was as a homemaker, and as a young woman, she served her community by working at a local doctor's office. She loved children, so she and her husband dedicated six years as loving, caregiving home-parents to young boys at the Children's Methodist Home. She loved being a homemaker, tending her garden, reading and was especially known for her hand crafts, crocheting, knitting and sewing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Rae Baskin; brothers, John H. Hickman and Raymond Hickman; sister, Margaret Nevielene Morgan; nephews, Kenneth Hickman and Raymond Lee Hickman; and a great-nephew, David John Hickman Jr.
Survivors include nephews, David John Hickman and wife, Carol and Thomas Hickman; nieces, Marilyn Sexton and husband, Albert, Mary Lynn Christiana and husband, Stephen, Cheryl Andrews and Debbie McCollough and husband, Rudy; and several great-nieces and nephews; and her extended family, Roy Davis and wife, Connie, Brad Davis and wife, Melanie and their son, Cole, John Davis and wife, Molly and their daughter, Avery.
