Ada Elaine Hicken Garlick, 66, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 2, 2000.

Born February 8, 1934 to Cyril M.. and Mazie Watson Hicken in Heber City, Utah, she was a loving sister to six brothers: Neil, Jay, Joseph, Dale, Robert and Claude.

After serving in the West Central States Mission and teaching elementary school in Pleasant Grove, Utah, she was sealed to G. Jay Garlick in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1960.

In American Fork, Utah they raised five of their best friends, their five children:

JaLayne, Steven, Kami, Marne' and David.

Together they served a full-time mission in Holland, two stake missions, and a CES Institute Mission.

Elaine served in many capacities in the LDS church including Stake Primary President and Relief Society President. She served the Lord, her family and friends with faithful enthusiasm throughout her life.

Elaine was blessed with a great relationship with her extended family: Bangerters, Haymonds, Larsons, Reneers, Shumways and Blakes.

Her leadership in civic and cultural artevents influenced many in the community.

She enjoyed reading, writing books and histories, gardening, tulips and talking.

Until we meet again she will be missed by her husband and family: Paulo and JaLayne Bangerter (Adam, Claire, Lauren, Andrew, Seth, Lincoln, Steven); Steven and Dianne Garlick (Spencer, Anne, Kate, Eliza, Kaleb, Jakob, Joseph, Sarah, Isaac); Alan and Kami Larson (Matthew, Quinn, Kalan, Lars, Layne); Brad and Marne' Reneer (Ruth, Benjamin, Mazie, Gabriel, Emma); David and Annette Garlick (Jessica, Nathan, Alison, MaKell, Jared).

She was preceded in death by her mother, sister, and grandson Gabriel.

Funeral services will be held Mon., July 10, 2000 at 12 noon in the American Fork 8th Ward Chapel, 300 North 100 East. A viewing will be held on Sun., July 9, 2000 from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 No, American Fork, and also Monday prior to the services at the chapel from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment, American Fork Cemetery.
