Floyd went to Boyles College and took up typing and telegraphy and went to work at the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad. They moved several times with his job, living in Ashland, Laurel and then in 1962, they moved to Lyons.
They attended the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons for many years. Alyce taught Sunday school and she and Pamela sang in the choir. Alyce was also a member of the Robert Klase VFW Post No. 7998 Auxiliary.
