Florence Mae Herring, 94, formerly of 7 S. Kern Drive, Topton, died, Oct. 30 in Henry Health Care Center of The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the wife of the late Wilbur F. Herring.
She served as director of activities for the aging for 10 years and established and managed the Clothing Store for eight years at the Lutheran Home at Topton. Previously, she and her husband managed the Lutheran Home for the Aged, Lancaster. Prior to that, she was director of the Lutheran Inner Mission Neighborhood House, Toledo, Ohio and served as a house parent for the former Oesterlen Orphan's Home, Springfield, Ohio.
She was a graduate of Pott's Business College, Williamsport and attended Lutheran Deaconess Motherhouse and Training School, Baltimore, Md. and Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio.
Born in Watsontown, Northumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Robert C. and Bertha May (Tyson) Leech.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church at the Lutheran Home at Topton.
Survivor: Nephew.
Services: memorial, 11 a.m. Nov. 21 in the church. No calling hours. Graveside services, 10 a.m. Monday, Watsontown Cemetery. Arrangements, Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton.
