Austin Alexis Herr III, of Alexandria, VA, died on December 26, 2016, following a sudden heart event. Mr. Herr was born in Alexandria, VA on August 31, 1966 and was the beloved and oldest son of JoAnn Herr and the late Austin A. Herr, Jr., MD. He graduated from St. Stephen's High School in Alexandria, VA in 1984. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Duke University in 1987 and his MBA from the University of Virginia in 1989. He worked as Senior Trader at Fannie Mae Mortgage Backed Securities. When not working, he spent his days enjoying his love of sand, sea, and family at their home in Dewey Beach, DE, where his Duke Blue Devils reigned.
Mr. Herr leaves behind his wife. Julie Huffman Herr, and two children, along with five siblings. Also surviving Mr. Herr, are 12 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3rd at 3pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 310 Royal Street, Alexandria, VA. 22314, following the service the family will receive friends in the Lyceum of St. Mary's Church.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the DE Seashore Preservation Foundation (www.dspf.net) or the Duke School of Medicine ([email protected]).
