Myrtle "Merle" McLellan Herman - JOHNSON CITY

Mrs. Myrtle (Merle) McLellan Herman, age 90, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, at her residence after a brief illness.

Mrs. Herman, a native of Bridgeport, CT, was the daughter of the late Eli McLellan and Mary Knees McLellan. In addition, her one sister, Gertrude Cumming, and two brothers, Robert McLellan and Ernie McLellan, and a dear cousin, Ruth Mullen, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Myrtle Herman, known as Merle, was a member of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City and a long time member of the sorority Beta Sigma Phi.

She originally worked as an accountant before starting her family. A passionate student of health and nutrition, she began working as a Shaklee Representative in the 1970s, even being rewarded with a car as a bonus for her marketing efforts.
