Walter C. Herbold
Walter C. Herbold, 79, a supervisor of boys at Montana School for the Deaf and Blind for 20 years, died Wednesday at home, 2025 4th Ave. N. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday at O'Connor Funeral Home. The body will be cremated after the service and ashes will be buried in Highland cemetery.
Herbold was born at Newton, Iowa. He attended schools at Boulder, graduating in May 1928. His first job was with the Public Works Administration on public roads. He then worked for a bakery, before moving to Havre where he was employed by a dry cleaner. He owned a farm at Hingham from 1949 until 1964. Then he moved to Great Falls to work for the state school.
He married Helen R. Chinadle at Conrad in 1935. She died in 1960. He married Rita E. Wesen in Havre in 1963.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church for the Deaf and of the Montana Association for the deaf.
Survivors: his wife; six brothers preceded him in death.
