Arbutus Harriet Arey, 91, Waynesboro, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville. She had been ill for a year and was living at Mount Haven Rest Home in New Hope.

Mrs. Arey was born June 11, 1909, in Elkton, and was the daughter of the late John and Victoria Shifflett Hensley.

She grew up in Rockingham County and had a dry cleaning business in Harrisonburg in the early 1940s. In 1949, she moved to Waynesboro and worked in sales at several retail dress stores. She attended St. Michael's United Church of Christ in Bridgewater.

Her husband, Hiram Arey, preceded her in death in April 2000.

She is survived by three brothers, Nelson "Sam'' Hensley, Bridgewater, Dallas Hensley, Newport News, and Vincent Hensley, Laurel, Md.

The Rev. Wayne Wright will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Christian Church. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
