Birdie was the oldest of two girls born in Texas to Mary and Joseph Henry.

Birdie was the widow of Harvey A. Bruner who she had married on March 27, 1926. She and Harvey never had children of their own, but she felt the joy of motherhood through the children of her late sister, Mary Edwards. She was an active member of Word Aflame Fellowship (formerly First United Pentecostal Church of Little Rock). She was honored the October before her death as the oldest living member of the church. She also taught a sunday school class for many years.

Survivors are two nieces, Betty Brady of Sheridan adn Mary Lou McGuire of Little Rock; one nephew, Sonny Edwards of Mayflower; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and a sister, Mary Edwards.

Service was officiated by Rev. James G. Lumpkin,Jr., Rev. Bill Harden, Rev. Craig Ashcraft and Rev. Tim Gaddy.
