First son of Floyd Oliver Hennington and Myrtle Cumy Moreman Hennington. Second of 12 children. 7 Sisters: Geneva, Juanita, Doris, Viola, Lorene, Leona, Pat. 4 Brothers: T.C. (Thomas), Floyd, Jr., Billy D., Earl Wayne. Married Violet Franklin on May 31, 1941. They were married 60 1/2 years before Glenn passed away. Father of 2 children, Johnny Clement and Glenda Ellen Hennington Ward. Grandfather of 4 grandchildren: John Brian Hennington, Amy Lynn Ward Stringer, William Andrew (Chip) Ward, and Troy Glen Ward. He has 2 greatgrandsons, Logan Caide Stringer (son of Amy) and Chase Adam Hennington (son of Brian).
Glenn was a cowboy, farmer, bowler (had several 300 games), living most of his life in the area of Lovington and Hobbs, NM; Lubbock and Denver City, TX. He served in the Air Force (Army Air Corp) during WWII. He retired from the Denver City Independent School District. He was an outstanding, loving father to his children and grandchildren. He really was crazy about children...would build all kinds of toys for them in his shop and played with all his offspring. Above all, he was a fine christian man. Glenn fought the horrible disease of Alzheimer's for approximately 20 years before he passed away peacefully in his sleep at about 4:30 a.m. on January 31, 2002. His funeral was held on February 4, 2002 at the Shallowater, TX Church of Christ. Funeral directors were Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock, TX. Funeral services were conducted by Skip Rodgers and Chip Bennett of Denver City, TX and Don Wood of Shallowater.
