RACINE LaVerne M. Christensen, 73, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare All Saints Hospital on Tuesday, March 6, 2007.

She was born in Racine on January 13, 1934, daughter of the late Lawrence & Helen (nee: Jartz) Henkel. She was united in marriage to John M. Christensen on July 13, 1963, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. LaVerne was employed by Walker Manufacturing in the Purchasing Department for 43 years, retiring in 1996. She loved flowers and gardening and taking care of her home. She also enjoyed watching game show on TV, especially Wheel of Fortune. She was a member of the Walker 20-Year club and St. Lucy's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her devoted husband, John M. Christensen of Racine; her sister, Claire (Don) Vogelman in Florida; brothers, Larry (Suzette) Henkel of Racine, and Tom (Nancy) Henkel in Arizona; her special daughters, Denise (Ray) Kano; special grandsons, Alex and Nicholas Kano, all of California; sisters-in-law, Faye Henkel, Jackie Henkel, and Sue Christensen, all of Racine; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including Uncle Rollie. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Henkel and Donald Henkel; and brother-in-law, Larry Christensen.

The Funeral Mass for LaVerne Christensen will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church on Friday, March 9, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. Private entombment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. and in the church on Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Lucy's or the American Cancer Society have been suggested. Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 4600 County Line Road.
