Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. Mackey, Sr. and Catherine Renneker Mackey. Her grandfather, James F. Mackey, was founder of The Mackey Mortuary in 1872.
Mrs. Hendrix was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a degree in medical technology and attended Furman University. She retired from the Greenville Hospital System as a medical technologist. She was a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, D. Barkley Hendrix, Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. Charles M. Hendrix and his wife, Becky, of Auburn, Ala.; and a granddaughter, Charlotte R. Hendrix of Washington, D.C.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, with the Rev. Chris Cadenhead and Rev. Dr. Marion Hare officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the mortuary.
