Services for Mr. L H Hemphill, age 80, of West Monroe, LA will be 1:30 PM Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel - West Monroe, LA with Rev. Dennis Anger and Rev. T. E. Miller officiating. Interment will be in Twin City Memorial Gardens - West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Mr. Hemphill was born February 3, 1923 in Old Floyd, LA and died Friday, April 4, 2003 in West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Hemphill served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II and was decorated with many honors such as ABX 2 bronze stars, UB Ribbon for New Guinea Campaign, New Guinea Luzon, Asiatic - Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He also was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Barak Shrine. Mr. Hemphill was owner of Oaks Pawn Shop and Hemphill Trucking Company in West Monroe. He was a member of Cypress Street Church of God - West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Scott Hemphill.

Survivors include his wife: Marzell Hemphill; seven children: Lamar Hemphill and wife Diane, Janet McCraw and husband Jim, Pam McCready and husband Kenny, Randy L. H. Hemphill, all of West Monroe, Ginger Pacheco and husband Moises of Orlando, FL, Stephanie Morris and Stacey L. H. Hemphill, both of West Monroe; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters: Bennie Rhea Ford of West Monroe and Ruby Clark of Gloster, MS.

Mr. Hemphill's grandsons to serve as pallbearers- Gordon Hemphill, Shannon Frith, Brad Frith, Derek Hemphill, Shawnesy Thompson and Lantz Hemphill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny McCready and Clay Clark.
