Funeral services for Bevelene M. Hemperley will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Bro. Billy Pierce, pastor emeritus, Cypress Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hemperley was born September 8, 1924 in Wallace, Arkansas to parents Sadie Elizabeth (Warrick) and George Benson McCandless and passed away April 2, 2013 at Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport following a lengthy illness. She was longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church of Blanchard and a loyal fan of the Monday Night Jammers.
Our mother never met a stranger and chatted with everybody she came in contact with. She was such a warm person that even the briefest of contacts with people left them feeling better for having talked with her. Her family always came first in her life, and she was convinced that we were all much more wonderful than perhaps we really were. Her grandchildren called her "Mimi" and each one loved her unreservedly, and she loved them more than life itself.
Mrs. Hemperley was preceded in death by her parents and her huband Asa D. Hemperley, Jr. and brother, Donald Benson McCandless. She is survived by two sons, William G. Abney and wife Ann, Nathan Scott Hemperley, two daughters, Glenda Abney Siepman and husband Brad, Susan Mulkey and husband Michael, sister, Sarah Mock and husband Roger. Mrs. Hemperley is also survived by eight grandchildren who will serve as pall bearers, Jeff Abney, Steven Abney, Melissa Hope Abney Payne, Todd Martin, Andrew Martin, Jon Michael Mulkey, Will Mulkey, and Nathan Hemperley, Jr. special nephew, Stan Mock, and twelve great grandchildren.
