Lessie Helms Engler, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Lt. General Jean Evans Engler, U. S. Army (Ret.), died Wednesday afternoon, January 25, 2012, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in New Boston, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Cader Parker Helms. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jean Helms Engler, and her granddaughter, Mary Lynn Engler.
Survivors include her daughter, Fran Engler Connerat and her husband, E. Bryan Connerat, Jr., of Savannah; her son, Michael Evans Engler and his wife, Carol Marie McGarity, of Middleton, Ireland; her daughter-in-law, Judith Kuhnlein Engler of Mobile, Alabama; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
