Boyd E. Helmig, age 89, of Linn, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born Dec. 28, 1917, in Osage County, Mo., the son of John and Nellie (Phelps) Helmig, both deceased. He was married Feb. 10, 1940, in Linn, Mo. to Thelma Lorene Baclesse, who preceded him in death Aug. 9, 1987. A lifelong area resident, Boyd worked as a farmer and carpenter, and had also been employed as a driver for the O.A.T.S. bus in Osage Co. for 15 years prior to his retirement in 1987. Boyd was lifetime member and served as a deacon of the Solid Rock Baptist Church, Judge, Mo. Survivors include: two sons, Dwight E. Helmig and Boyd Duane Helmig, both of Linn, Mo.; five daughters: Mary Jo Skidmore of Freeburg, Mo.; Barbara Kochenberger of Broadway, N.C.; Ruth Ann Tynes of Linn, Mo.; Ronda Thompson of Linn, Mo., and Brenda Doty of Rocky Mount, Mo.; one brother, Jake Helmig of Commerce, Okla.; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Karen Kay Pearson; two grandsons: Daniel Helmig and Jack Tynes; one brother: Roy Helmig, and two sisters: Stella McGuire and Mayme Branson. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2007, at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at the Solid Rock Baptist Church, Judge Mo., with Rev. Perry Wolfe and Rev. Ed Teal officiating. Interment will follow in the Solid Rock Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Solid Rock Baptist Church, Judge, Mo. Funeral arrangements are under the directions of Morton Funeral Home, Linn, Mo. 573-897-2214.
