She was a daughter of the late Hobart N. and Beulah E. Slaybaugh Heller.
Mrs. Abbott was a 1940 graduate of the Biglerville High School and a 1941 graduate of Beauty Operator's School in Harrisburg. She joined the United States Marine Corps, Women's Reserve, in May 1943, and went through boot camp with WAVES at Hunter College in New York, in the 3rd Marine WR Recruit Company. She rose to the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in Sept. 1945.
She was the wife of William Abbott for 51 years and surviving, in addition to him, are two daughters, Cynthia M. Abbott Reno of Suffolk, VA and Kimberly R. Abbott Weaver of Accokeek, MD; one grandchild; two sisters, Mary J. Heller Clark of Chambersburg and Audrey M. Heller Strehl of Newburg, OR; two brothers, Clyde N. Heller of Biglerville and CABH James C. Heller (US Navy-RET.) of Fairfield.
