Gen. Heavey Dies; Played Football for Army in 1890. Was Member of Team in First Contest with Navy.

Brig. Gen. John W. Heavey, a member of the Army team in the First West Point Annapolis football game in 1890, died yesterday at Walter Reed Hospital. He was retired in 1931 after more than 40 years service in the Army.

Gen. Heavey was born in Vandalia, Ill., in 1867 and was graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1912, the Army War College the following year, and the Infantry School in 1923.

He was commissioned a second lieutenant of Infantry in 1891. Gen. Heavey served in the Puerto Rico campaign, Phillippine Insurrection and on the Mexican border in 1916... Gen. Heavey is survived by his widow, Mrs. Katherine S. Heavey of Washington, and three sons, Wade Heavey, Louisville, Ky; Lt. ..."
