Ellen O. Dudding, 87, Topeka, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born Dec. 27, 1916, in Valencia, the daughter of Oren E. and Alice V. Morris Headlee.
Mrs. Dudding worked 43 years in the medical field and was a bookkeeper when she retired in 1984.
She graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Emporia State College. Mrs. Dudding was a member of the Wanamaker Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She had served as a superintendent and deaconess.
She was a distinguished honorary member of the Phi Tau Omega Sorority and past president and honorary member of Shawnee County Medical Assistants Society.
She married Donald A. Dudding on Oct. 31, 1939, in Manassas, Va. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2000.
Survivors include a sister, Irene L. George, North Highlands, Calif.; and a brother, Milton L. Headlee, Carbondale.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wanamaker Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Dudding will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 1 p.m Wednesday, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Wanamaker Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2435 S.W.
