Ibbie O. Haynes was born in Nodaway County Missouri on August 1, 1867. She was the daughter of Abraham and Mary Haynes. She moved to Atchison county with her parents when a small child, where she grew to young womanhood. She attended West Point School and also the McCann Select school in Skidmore, MO.
In 1889 she was married to George H. Allen of Oregon, who once served as postmaster here. To this union were born seven children, three dying in infancy and a son, Francis dying at the age of 17.
Mrs. Allen's husband passed away January 30, 1920. She is survived by the following; Mrs. Fred Morgan of Breckenridge, MO; Edgar Allen of Kansas City, MO, and Thomas H. Allen of Washington, D.C. ; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Fred L. Haynes of Skidmore. When a young girl, Mrs. Allen united with the Presbyterian Church. She lived a consistent Christian life and was a wonderful mother. She was one of those grand women who went about doing good deeds. She endeared herself to her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, alike.
Funeral services were held at the Oregon Presbyterian Church on Monday afternoon, May 6, 1940, by Rev. L.A. Warren. Burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery.
