Funeral services for Mrs. Tennie Haynes Day, 90 of Shelbyville, who died Friday at Lynchburg Nursing Center in Lynchburg after an extended illness, were held Sunday at Hillcrest Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Gray officiated and burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
A Bedford County native, she was the wife of the late James Robert Day, who died in 1978, and the daughter of the late William Henry and Kitty Emma Smotherman Haynes. She was a retired employee of Empire Pencil Co. (now Sanford Corporation) and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie C. Cook of Shelbyville; two sons William H. Clark of Unionville and Sherman Lewis Clark of Shelbyville; two sisters, Alta Lynch of Lewisburg and Elizabeth Adkins of Nashville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Neal Adcock.
