Delamater, Mildred (Milly) H., passed away at her home in Wichita, Kansas on March 27, 2007. Services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 2, Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2258 N. Marigold Lane. She was born June 7, 1914 at Joplin, Missouri to Ray Jackson Hawkins and Geneva Hatten, and grew up on a farm where her love of nature developed. She graduated from Oklahoma University with a Bachelors degree in Botany. She married Spencer Delamater in Washington, D.C, on July 29, 1945 just before he shipped out to the Pacific during WWII. They were members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wichita. Milly was highly intelligent and lived life to the fullest through her gardening activities. She was a Sedgwick County Master Gardener, a life member of Botanica-The Wichita Gardens, the Suburban Garden Club, Kansas State Judges Council, Rocky Mt. Regional Garden Clubs, and a life member of Kansas Associated Garden Clubs and National Garden Club Association. After 3 years of Judging School, she became an Accredited Flower Judge at the age of 86 and continued to judge flower shows until last spring. She also was in charge of creating floral designs for the lobby of Georgetown Village. Milly thoroughly enjoyed all of her friends at Georgetown and her many gardening associations. She was known for her sense of humor, tenacity, and love of flowers and travel. Milly is preceded in death by her husband Spencer, her sister, Margie Button, nephew Tom Cox and niece Janice Braden. She is survived by her nephews Gary Button of Warrensburg, Mo; Steve Button of Wichita, Ks; Tom Button, Colorado Springs, Co; Terry Cox of Columbia, Mo; and her nieces Marilyn Cox, of Springfield, Mo; and Marydel Grayum, of Wichita, Ks. Memorials may be made to Botanica-The Wichita Gardens in her name. Downing & Lahey Mortuary East.
