Verlin Anson Hatch, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, died on July 1, 2007 as a result of a tragic car accident. He was born in Provo, Utah on March 30, 1946, son of Verlin Mitchell Hatch and Bessie Rowena Carter Hatch. He was raised in San Jose, CA. He graduated from Leigh High School. He served in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England States Mission. After returning home he married Stella Colleen Lear in the Logan Temple on October 23, 1970. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. He worked as a social worker for the state of Utah, impacting the lives of many foster children. He managed a construction company for many years and helped build many buildings, including the Provo City Library, structures at Brigham Young University, and meeting houses for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He worked at the Utah State Prison for 16 years, where he served as Production Manager of Utah Correctional Industries Construction Program. He was especially pleased to help the inmates develop skills that would provide a successful life once they were released. Verlin was an avid water skier and snowmobiler who enjoyed a full active life. He always needed a "project", whether it was restoring automobiles or constructing a building. He enjoyed all manner of games, especially strategy games like Rook or Chess. He was a man of great faith, honored the priesthood and served in the church in many different capacities. One of his greatest accomplishments was teaching his children the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping them to gain testimonies of their own. He is survived by his wife Stella Colleen Lear Hatch of American Fork, UT, his brother and sisters Karen Shaffer, Marilyn Lear, Joan Foulon, and Gary Richard Hatch, and his ten children Anson Verlin (Lora Lyn), Alvin Benjamin (Adriana), Katrina Lila Reid (Kyle Max), Sonia Leishman (Michael Shane), Aaron Mitchell (Sherri Ann), Heidi Poole (Bryce Gregory), Andrew Carter (Melissa Marie), Ammon William (Abigail), Alex David, and Teresa Hardy (Brian Nicolas), and 14 grandchildren.
