Elizabeth H. "Buffie" Lybbert 1920 - 2006

Buffie Lybbert died at the age of 85 on March 17, 2006. Buffie was born on September 11, 1920 in Vernal, Utah to Charles and Mary Hatch. She attended BYU and, as a young woman, moved to Salt Lake City where she met Donal D. Lybbert. She and Don married in Vernal on February 23, 1946. She remained married to and in love with Don until his passing in October, 2003. Buffie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Buffie is survived by sons Steven (Cindy) and David (Kara), eight grandchildren, Jess Lybbert, Hallie (Erik) Grahn, Josh (Natalie) Lybbert, Megan (Jake) Bundy, Cami Lybbert, Shannon Lybbert, Amanda Lybbert and Kaitlyn Lybbert, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Glen (Joan) Hatch. She was preceded in death by Don and her brother Dallas Hatch. Buffie was a spunky lady with an endearing sense of humor. She particularly liked bad puns. She was an avid golfer as long as her health allowed and had many friends at Willow Creek Country Club. An example of her complex personality: Buffie was mostly a BYU fan (Don would jokingly say, "She didn't have much education--she went to BYU"), but her passion later in life was for U of U gymnastics. She and Don frequently traveled to regional and national gymnastics meets to watch "our girls". Buffie's family wishes to express thanks to her friends and neighbors Nancy Bemis, Jerry and Willard Henrickson, Jack Higbee, and Kit Barton for their continuing concern for and service to her, and also to her monthly-Mexican-lunch buddy, Maureen Jones. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
