CAMDEN – Freda H. Barton, 86, died following a long illness, Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Windward Gardens. Born in Stonington, March 2, 1921, she was the daughter of Elroy and Christine Terry Haskell. She was a graduate of Stonington High School and attended Beal College in Bangor for a year.

On June 11, 1939 she married James W. Barton in Vinalhaven. The couple lived in Springfield, Massachusetts, where their first two daughters were born. They later returned to Vinalhaven, where their youngest daughter was born. The family made several moves in order to follow Mr. Barton's career. Besides Massachusetts and Maine, they resided in Ohio, Texas, New York, and Florida.
Mrs. Barton was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (now called Community of Christ), and more recently affiliated with the Restoration Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

For the past seven years she has resided at Windward Gardens in Camden.

Predeceased by her husband in 1982, she is survived by three daughters, Judyth Reitze and her husband Charles of Millinocket, Janey Barton of Chelsea, Martha Conrad and her husband Barclay of Blackwood, New Jersey; a brother Melvin Haskell of Stonington; four grandchildren, Ruth Conrad of West Atlantic City, New Jersey, Thomas Conrad and his wife Carolyn of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, David Conrad and his wife Charlynne of Clementon, New Jersey, James Conrad of Blackwood, New Jersey; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Conrad of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Tiannalynne Conrad, Davita Conrad, and Malene Conrad all of Clementon, New Jersey.

A graveside committal will be held at at Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland, (Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins on-line)
