Frances Taylor Hartman, age 53 of Rocky Mount went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 after a courageous fight with the demon of cancer. Her faith served as a stalwart for her loving family that surrounded her during her passing. Fran is the third oldest child to Elinor Taylor Draper, and is preceded in death by her paternal father, Curtis Lee Taylor. Fran is survived by her loving husband, Glenn Hartman and her two sons, Zachary Hyler Jenkins and Rainer Pierce Jenkins. Fran is also survived by her three sisters, Deborah Martin (Jerry), Cheryl Hundley (Ray), and Carol Cundiff (Barry); step-father, Harold Draper. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including an extended family of step-daughters, Tabitha and Megan Hartman, and step-grandchildren, Xavier Callaway, Malachi Glover, and Dayana Glover; father-in-law (Papa Glenn); mother-in-law, (Momma Peggy); brother-in-law, Benjamin Hartman (Tina - Special Friend) BJ and Emily Hartman, Baby (Emma), and Ashley Hartman. Fran was born in Martinsville, VA and grew up in the counties of Henry and Franklin. She was an honor graduate of Franklin County High School in the year of 1977. After graduating high school, her work took her through the private sector, as well as the public sector in the counties of Isle of Wight, Halifax, and Franklin. Fran was the deputy clerk of the Franklin County Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, as well as the General District Court. Fran also held different support positions within various law firms throughout her tenure in Franklin County. Fran had an unbelievably strong work ethic, and took great pride in what she did. She always loved being at the office with her work girls, including special friend, Sherri Perez. She was a loyal member of Victory Fellowship Church in Collinsville, VA, with church duties including Prayer Team, Communion Team, and helping teach Children's Church. Thanks for our Church Family during this time of great loss. Fran's life and faith touched the entire church family. Fran was the epitome of hard work, faith, love, and perseverance. Through her struggle with her illness, you would still always see a smile on her face, and would never hear a negative statement regarding her situation. She never once gave up fighting, and remained strong in her relationship with God. She constantly put others ahead of herself, and gave all the love she had to give to those that were around her. Her persona was one of selfless nature - her character, morals, and values were a foundation for her two sons, as well as her extended family. Fran loved being a nurturer; keeping a clean and upheld household and providing open arms to all who entered her home. She offered a haven of care by always lending comfort to her sons' close friends throughout the years, including family friends Hunter Naff, Decon Sledd, Riley Brubaker, Nathan Sloan, and Aaron Wimmer. Fran enjoyed evening walks, sporadic road trips and vacations, picnics, and having an overall joyous time doing whatever it may be with her constant companion and husband, Glenn, who never left her side. Fran and Glenn found strength in each other, and were the staple of what Love should be together. Fran will greatly be missed by all, and her spirit will live on strong in all that knew her. Through her last breath before being called Home, a resonance of enlightenment swept through her family and friends. She gave relentless love from her gracious heart that only a mother like her could give to her family, undying support to her husband that only a wife can give, and friendship like no other to her girls. Special thanks to Hospice for all that was done for the family over the last few days. In lieu of flowers being sent to the home, the family requests that donations be made to the Carilion Rocky Mount Hospice Organization. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Gary Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
